charmed {my linky submission}

This will be the last post totally dedicated to my charmed quilt I promise you {I do just love it so…}. Rather than cloud the tutorial and free pattern  post with my {way too many} photos I’d thought I’d share my submission to the Kate Spain charm along all in a place of her own!

Charmed came about when I was adding pins to Midge’s Charm Square LOVE pinterest board {there is so much awesome charm square inspiration over there} and drawing out my ideas. I toyed with making another X’s and O’s quilt, but really wanted something that I could use as a wall hanging or display quilt in my sewing room. Its a real work in progress in there, and with the new baby coming in November will be relocated again to one of the spare bedrooms.

The Kate Spain charms I received were better than I could have expected – the flickr group had plenty of tasters while the packs were being made up, but nothing can describe the loveliness until they all arrived and played so nicely together in so many ways. I wanted a simple design that really showed off the fabrics, made them ‘pop’ so to speak – it is not everyday you get to work with so many gorgeous prints from so many favourite fabric collections {or get to plan your own Kate Spain masterpiece!} so I settled for making mini strip sets and set them on point with simple centre block and sashing. I love how, by changing up the solid fabric and resizing those sashing strips would completely change the overall look of the finished quilt {along with the size!}.

So Charmed began as 96 of the selected prints {the other charms have gone into a secret little project}…

and evolved into a much needed finish {I was beginning to wonder when it would happen!}

and as a finish brings me so much joy.

quilt stats:

    This is one of the most beautiful quilts ever! I just found it as I was going through your newsletter today, October 29, 2014. I am back into quilting due to accidently finding all these amazing quilters on Instagram. I do have a question. I know these are all Kate Spain fabrics (charm packs) Do you just randomly put them together??? I am not good as visualizing colors together, so all these bundles (jelly rolls etc.) have been a miracle for someone like me.
    Thank you and hope all goes well with your new little one
