There’s a space where I get completely lost; where the colour and texture and divine scent are almost too much for me. Blooms are grouped by type, by colour and by price in this place. Huge wicker baskets are overflowing with the most gorgeous of flowers in a spectrum of colour and pure perfection!
I’ve always loved the baby bunting quilt block, and grouped as it is in this design reminds me so much of those wicker flower baskets. The flower markets are somewhere I could spend my days, touching and smelling each kind, sitting for hours drawing and devising up colour palettes. My Flower Basket quilt design is inspired by this place, the blooms of colour and the scattering of petals.
When picking fabrics for this project, I honestly couldn’t go past Emily Taylor’s Chatsworthy. This collection for Riley Blake Designs is a mountain of flowers; the colours are amazing, and the floral prints just scream freshness in every way! I love reversing print and solid fabrics in my designs, creating a whole different look to traditional and simple quilt blocks. These larger blocks showcase the fabrics beautifully and sew together so quickly and easily.
This quilt was quilted by Cassie of Juicy Quilting – she never ceases to amaze me with her talent. Picking the perfect design for my quilt samples, making a marriage of fabric, pattern and quilting design is her specialty. This rose pattern is just so gorgeous and adds the best texture to the quilt.
